Seven-Dwarf Racing
On Saturday December 10, 2001 the Seven-Dwarf Racing Team (Ron, Kev, Scott, & Terry) acquired Rod Messner's #17 Dwarf Car for use as an autocross racer for the 2002 season. The car is a purpose built race car which Rod constructed himself 5 years ago in order to compete in Dwarf Car racing. Dwarf cars compete on small oval tracks (1/4 mile or so) which run counterclockwise, so the car is set up to prefer turning to the left. The car is powered by a 1984 Kawasaki GPz 750 motorcycle engine (approx 70 HP) and weighs in at about 1200 Lbs without driver.
To convert the car to compete in autocross we'll need to do the following changes:
1) Tune the left turn camber out of the front suspension.
2) Replace all springs with matched set(s) - the car currently runs 4 unmatched springs.
3) Replace the wheels/tires. Car currently runs 4 mismatched street tires (tuned for left turns, Dwarf spec tires), we'll run 4 matched, wider tires, likely slicks.
4) Replace the current engine which threw a rod during a race last season.
5) Tune weight balance as best we can by moving battery, fuel cell, and whatever else we can.
